INKPOTS is located in Millbrook, Larne. The Nursery sits in a one acre site encompassing established gardens and lawns which border surrounding greenbelt farm lands.
The building was a former private residence converted into Inkpots Day Nursery in 2015 and the new build was opened in 2020, housing the Baby Unit and will soon be home to the afterschool room. Most of the original residence has been retained which gives the day nursery a comforting home from home feel.
A little local history inspired the name Inkpots. Within walking distance of the Day Nursery once stood two hexagonal shaped dwellings which were locally referred to as the Inkpots.
Learning
Through Play Curriculum.
At Inkpots we are committed to providing a curriculum that will allow each
child to grow to their fullest potential. Article 31 of The UN Convention on the
Rights of the child states that:
Every child has the right to rest and leisure, to engage in play and
recreational activities appropriate to the age of the child and to participate
freely in cultural life and the arts.
This is promoted by Inkpots through the NI Curriculum Learning Through Play
(Foundation Stage). The Planning will include a balance of adult led and
child-initiated opportunities. Children will have opportunities to play both
indoors and outdoors. Through observations, assessment, and professional
judgement we gain valuable insights into how each child learns best. Well-
planned and well-resourced play activities which allow for progression in a
child’s thinking and understanding.
